About Appraisal & Valuation
Consignors receive payments approximately 35 days following each auction, provided that purchasers have made their payments. These payments to consignors include detailed statements that itemize the commission and any additional charges that may apply.
Contact the specialist in charge for advice on how you should proceed.
Following the auction, you will be sent a post-sale notification detailing the final bid amount. Should the property not sell, you will receive a notification indicating that the property did not meet the reserve price or received no bids.
After agreeing to the consignment of your property, you can either:
1. Bring it yourself
2. Arrange your own shipper for delivery
3. Too much to bring or ship.
Not sure where to start? Request help. Contact 713-254-4399.
The consignor and our specialists will establish a minimum reserve price, which is the lowest amount the consignor is willing to accept for the lot. If bids do not meet this price, the lot will not be sold. This amount is confidential, known only to the consignor and our team.
Sliding scale of commission charges for sellers based on a client’s selling history.
The timeline varies by project. Adequate time is necessary to conduct research, catalog, and photograph items. A consignment deadline or closing date should be established by mutual agreement. This date will be displayed on the homepage of our website, indicating the date of the next auction.
Submitting a bid signifies complete comprehension of and agreement with the conditions of sale stated above.
Yes, a premium of 19.5% of the purchaser’s bid will be added to the total price and is due as part of the payment for all unpaid invoices submitted for collection.
All shipping charges will be paid by the successful bidder. Purchased property must be collected within 14 days following the auction. Property not collected within 14 days of the close of the auction will be subject to a storage fee equal to 1.5% of the hammer price per day. Property not collected within 60 days of the close of the auction will be considered abandoned and any monies paid to Simpson Galleries by the purchaser will be considered liquidated damages.
No warranty, expressed or implied, is provided with regard to any item description in this auction. The descriptions are solely for item identification purposes and do not form part of the bargain, nor create an express warranty that the goods will match any description provided by the auctioneer.
Properties acquired at the auction cannot be removed until the session concludes.
In case of a dispute, the auctioneer has the authority to decide the winning bidder, and such decision shall be final, or alternatively, to re-offer and re-sell the item in question. Should a dispute arise post-sale, the sales record will be the definitive source of information regarding the identity of the purchaser, the highest bid amount, and all other related matters.

The first step is to look for the FAQ named “Acceptable Items” or “Large Auction Items” as to whether we sell your type of item and then contact us so we may give you an evaluation on how much the item is worth at auction.
Find below some quick tips everyone should know before arriving at the auction.
- All Auctions are Open to the Public and anyone can attend. You must attend an On-Site Auction if you want to bid. This is the fairest for those who attend the auction (Telephone or Proxy Bids are excluded).
- A deposit is required to grant access to the auction. This deposit is credited towards any purchases and is refundable if you wish to leave. We created this deposit process to ensure bidders do not walk after bidding occurs. Each deposit varies depending upon the auctions, a typical deposit is $100 (*subject to change, depending on auction).
- After the deposit is received, show your state-issued ID / Driver’s License and any applicable tax information. You have the opportunity to preview the auction items.
- Items bought are “As-Is”. There is NO warranty expressed, written, or implied on the goods sold at the auction.
- Please be courteous to everyone at the auction, if someone is disruptive, they will be asked to leave the premises.
- Winning bidders of an item must pay that day or make payment arrangements before leaving the auction.
- PICKUP WINNING ITEMS: Pick up your winning items from the auction by the following Thursday.
- 10% buyer’s premium applies plus State Sales Tax
- Out-of-State bidders are welcome. For out-of-state purchases of firearms, we must ship the firearm using your state’s FFL Dealer. The buyer is responsible for Shipping and Insurance.
- CASH IS KING. You may have the option to pay with a credit card, but many auctions are cash only.
- Ensure items you win can be moved in the requested time frame required by the storage facility. The typical time frame is two days or less.
- Start cleaning out your unit the day you win. May be helpful to attend the auction with a truck, trailer, or van and a partner to help. Rope and blankets are always a good idea.
- Items to bring to Auction: Gloves, bottled water, snacks, and a flashlight. Also, wear comfortable shoes.
- Cleaning out a storage unit is hard work. Plan on donating, selling, or disposing of the unwanted items you’ve won.
Congratulations, you won! Once you have paid for the storage unit you may not realize that you MUST CLEAN OUT THE UNIT. Even if you do not want to keep the contents within the unit, you must ensure that when you leave the storage unit is ready to rent to a new customer. If you leave the unit messy, you may not be welcome back to the next auction.
On Mondays, professional auction buyers try to restock after weekend sales. Due to more competition, you can expect to pay more for units for an auction on a Monday. Friday or Saturday are typically the better days to have less professional competition. Always call before auction day to ensure the unit is still up for auction. Cancellations occur at the last minute due to the customer paying the outstanding bill.
People who attend storage auctions may spend as little as $5 to $10 or as much as $5,000 or more on a single unit. Storage auctions have a wide range of prices and can fit anyone’s budget.
Storage auctions are popular, expect plenty of competitive buyers. We have found that approximately 50% of the attendees resell these items they buy. Many types of people attend auctions, like treasure hunters and collectors. Come check out our next Storage Auction!
